We’re excited to announce that Reuseabox have pledged to plant 1 million trees over the next decade. We’ve joined the Million Tree Pledge (MTP), along with other like-minded businesses who want to do something great for the planet. According to the MTP, humans have already cut down over 3 trillion trees which is almost 50% of the world’s total. This is not sustainable. We need to reforest the Earth and restore biodiversity to slow down the effects of climate change and create a safer, more habitable planet.

What is the Million Tree Pledge?

The Million Tree Pledge was established by a group of individuals who wanted to plant as many trees as possible to help tackle climate change. One of the founding members, Marcus Hemsley, proposed a pledge site, where businesses can join forces and make a commitment to plant 1 million trees. Today, there are over 30 businesses who have taken the pledge and over 6.1 million trees have been planted.

How are trees planted?

Pledgers donate to the Eden Reforestation Project through the Ecologi platform. The Eden Reforestation Project works to reduce poverty by creating reforestation projects in underserved areas and employing local workers, often women, to plant millions of trees every year. Their projects focus on sustainability and biodiversity and are chosen to create the maximum positive impact on nature. For instance, a project to plant mangroves in the Madagascan rainforest absorbs 4x more CO2 than the average tree.

Why Reuseabox Has Pledged To Plant 1 Million Trees

Reuseabox is an environmental company, committed to creating a better world with less waste. With our Reuse Model we help companies reuse cardboard boxes, to save trees, carbon, energy and water. We’re already helping to reduce deforestation but we want to go even further.

We know reusing cardboard boxes isn’t enough to solve the climate emergency. As a business we believe it is our duty to give back to the planet for the resources we use and protect the Earth against the worst effects of climate change. We’ve therefore joined the MTP and committed to plant 1 million trees.

We’ll also be helping to promote the MTP, encouraging other businesses to take the pledge.
