Used cardboard sheets are often considered a waste product, a bi-product of the packaging industry and at best destined for recycling. But are they more valuable than first considered? Can a use be found for the simple once used cardboard layer pad?

So how can the humble cardboard sheet be reused? This depends on the type, size and quality of cardboard sheet. A bottling plant or dairy may receive large, single wall layer pads 1200 x 1000mm in length and width. These sheets make ideal layer pads between products stacked on a pallet, adding protection and stability. Their large size means they can also be cut down and used as smaller layer pads between products, perhaps in bottle boxes.

Double wall cardboard sheets have excellent cushioning properties and can be used to protect fragile items. The cardboard sheets can be cut to size and taped to the product for added protection. This is particularly effective for protecting glass.

Cardboard sheets of any quality and size can be shredded and made into void fill; ideal for protecting fragile items or for preventing items from moving around during transit.
