Where to get moving boxes: Our top tips for hassle-free moving

When you’re getting nearer to exchanging contracts, it’s time to finally start planning the move – exciting right? Having the right boxes is essential for a hassle-free moving experience. That’s because there is nothing worse than unpacking in your new home and struggling to find anything. Or worse, finding damaged products.

Don’t worry, we have a list of the best places to get moving boxes and tips to make your move easier.

Friends and Family

Where to get moving boxes- Our top tips for hassle-free moving

Reach out to your network. Friends, family, or neighbours who have recently moved may have boxes they no longer need. This can be an easy and cost-effective way to gather storage boxes. You can return the favour by donating your boxes after the move to others.

Online Marketplaces

Websites like Craigslist, Gumtree, and Facebook Marketplace are excellent places to find moving boxes. Many people who have recently moved are eager to get rid of their boxes and are willing to give them away.

Local Retail Stores

Many local retail stores often have surplus boxes they are willing to give away. Supermarkets usually have sturdy boxes that can be ideal for packing. Make sure to ask the store manager or staff if they have any boxes available before just taking any you see!

Moving House Packs from Reuseabox

Well, of course, we’d mention ourselves! We offer 8 different house moving packs to suit a variety of homes, using high-quality used boxes in a range of sizes.

They also include materials like plastic tape and bubble wrap for packing. However, you can also choose eco-friendly options such as paper tape and honeycomb wrap to make your move more sustainable. This way, you have everything you need to pack your home easily.

As we supply used cardboard boxes for our house moving packs, they are better for the planet. That’s because you’re not buying newly manufactured boxes, which requires trees to be cut down, and carbon, water and energy to make. We also plant trees with every order placed – how cool is that?!?

So now you know where to get your boxes, it’s time to get packing.

Tips for moving house

  1. Start early: Begin collecting boxes well in advance of your move. This gives you ample time to gather enough boxes and start packing non-essential items.
  2. Include clear labels: Make sure that you label each box with its contents, along with what room it belongs to. This will make unpacking much easier and more organised.
  3. Use the right size box: We recommend using smaller boxes for heavy items like books and larger boxes for lighter items such like linens. This will make transporting the boxes easier and prevent them from breaking.
  4. Protect fragile items: Use packing paper, bubble wrap, or even towels to protect fragile items. Make sure to label these boxes as “Fragile” to ensure they are handled with care.
  5. Stay organised: Keep an inventory list of all your boxes and their contents. This means that when you get into your new home, you know where your belongings are and ensure nothing gets lost.

Now you’re on your way to a successful and stress-free move.
