We are a pro-planet social enterprise that intercepts surplus food and redistributes this through our retail department, catering and events, and through re-distribution to other third sector organisations.
How we work is that we intercept edible produce from heading to landfill. This produce may be past best before, have suffered accidental damage or deemed to be surplus to requirements. So simply put, we give ‘surplus’ food its purpose by putting it BACK onto your plate, thus helping to combat the UK’s £20 billion food waste crisis.
What does sustainability mean to Surplus to Purpose?
Sustainability only exists in the natural world. Waste isn’t sustainable, neither is redistribution, but for now, we can only facilitate it and channel it into circular economy practices, until we remove it out of the system completely.
We love being part of the Reuseabox community as it means we can adopt circular economy practices with our packaging.
