Is reusing cardboard boxes better for the planet?
We think so. Actually, we know so!
Back in 2019, we set out to answer a fundamental question:
Is reusing cardboard boxes better for the planet than recycling them or buying new ones?Â
We knew recycling had some environmental benefits, but could reusing cardboard take things even further?Â
To find out, we teamed up with the experts
Partnering with Eco3 Design, a specialist consultancy in circular economy and carbon measurement, and researchers at the University of Lincoln, we developed the Reuseabox Environmental Calculator Tool.
This calculator was the first of its kind, specifically designed to measure and compare the environmental savings achievable by reusing cardboard boxes versus the impacts of buying new ones.
With the tool, we discovered that each tonne of cardboard reused instead of recycled saves:

Thanks to our Environmental Calculator Tool, we became the first and only used cardboard box supplier able to provide suppliers and customers with a detailed report on their reuse impact savings.
This means that companies choosing to ship in our used boxes get a clear, quantifiable picture of their environmental impact, allowing them to demonstrate sustainable choices to their customers and other stakeholders.
