Earth Day is an annual event that was first started on the 22nd of April 1970. Celebrated every year, it’s a movement that brings together millions of people across the world to take action for our planet. With recent reports of Unprecedented High Temperatures in the Arctic and Record High Levels of Heat-Trapping Gases, Earth Day is a reminder that we must act now to limit the devastating effects of climate change.
Earth Day 2024
The theme for Earth Day 2024 is Planet V Plastic. Plastics pose a serious health risk to all life on Earth. This year EarthDay.org is calling for an end to plastics, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of plastics by 2040 and an ultimate goal of building a plastic free world for future generations. This comes ahead of a historic UN Treaty on Plastics which is expected to be agreed by the end of 2024.
How We’re Celebrating Earth Day at Reuseabox
At Reuseabox we take action for our planet every single day. Our Reuse Model helps companies reuse cardboard packaging simply because it’s better for the planet. As members of 1% For the Planet we donate to environmental causes and have already helped to plant over 200,000 trees!
We work hard to limit the impact our business has on the planet by ensuring our use of plastics is minimal. Any plastic we do generate is recycled locally.
This year we decided to celebrate Earth Day by revamping our community garden. We upcycled some wooden pallets to make plastic free furniture and planted seasonal fruit and veg. We added some bee friendly plants and shrubs to give our pollinators a helping hand. Our garden is a peaceful area where our team can relax and enjoy a little bit of nature throughout their day. Hopefully we’ll be able to harvest some truly organic fruit and veg over the next few months. Keep an eye on our social media channels for regular updates!
