Wondering how many boxes we reused last year? How much carbon that saved? Or how far 12.8 million boxes would stretch if you lined them up end to end? You can find all of that and more in our new Impact Report.
Last year was a big one. Reuseabox turned 10, and we spent it proving, once again, that reuse beats recycling. Here’s the headline stuff.
In 2024-2025, the Reuseabox community:
- Reused over 2 million cardboard boxes
- Took our 10 year total to 12.8 million boxes reused
- Sold 45% more House Moving Packs than the year before
- Raised £2,515.85 for charity
- Clocked 66 hours of team volunteering
- Recorded our 50th episode of the Earth Your While podcast
Of course, none of it happens without the businesses who send us their used boxes and the customers who choose reuse over new. So thank you. Genuinely.
A decade of keeping cardboard in use for longer
By buying and redistributing used boxes instead of letting them go for recycling prematurely, our community has saved over the last 10 years:
- 17.9 thousand tonnes of cardboard
- 17.7 thousand tonnes of carbon
- 3.6 billion litres of water
- 298 million kWh of energy
That’s 12.8 million boxes given a second life instead of a trip to the recycling plant. We think that’s a pretty good decade’s work.
Our biggest year of change
At the end of 2024 we bought our own warehouse and offices. It’s the first time Reuseabox has owned its own site, and it’s a big deal for where we go next.
It also meant some tough calls. We paused our 1% for the Planet membership while we get the business back on solid financial footing, because giving away 1% of turnover just didn’t add up while we were investing in the site. We’re still giving where we can, including ongoing donations to Eden: People + Planet, and we plan to rejoin 1% for the Planet as soon as the numbers allow it.
Measuring our footprint properly
We worked with Green Business again this year to measure our emissions. Our total carbon footprint came in at 1,259.35 tonnes CO2e, down 10.5% on the year before.
Some of that drop is a one-off (buying the warehouse the previous year pushed our capital goods emissions up, so this year looks better by comparison). Some of it is real progress. Either way, we’re using it to build our roadmap: a 100% renewable energy site, starting with a battery for our solar panels, and a Climate Action Plan to get us to Net Zero.
Showing up for people
- 8 new box suppliers joined our community
- 100% of our managers completed Carbon Literacy training
- £6,727.80 of profit share distributed to our team
- 478 hours invested in team training and development
- 6 People Planet Pint events and our first People Planet Pastry, bringing sustainability-minded people together in Lincoln
Honest about what didn’t happen too
We didn’t hit our target of reusing 2.5 million boxes (we got to just over 2 million). We haven’t finished reviewing our family friendly policies. Our formal Climate Action Plan is still in progress, not published. We’d rather tell you where we fell short than only show you the wins.
What we’re working on in 2026:
- Getting Reuseabox to full financial stability post-warehouse
- Publishing a Climate Action Plan with a route to Net Zero by 2030
- Moving the site to 100% renewable energy
- Reviewing our family friendly policies
- Building an Impact Portal so our community can track their own reuse data more easily
Ten years of Reuseabox down, and we’re only just getting started. If you want the full breakdown, including our complete carbon footprint, supplier data and everything else we got up to, you can read the full 2024-2025 Impact Report here.
